    • Misc. Info: Arthur Robinson Frogge was in the Indian War of 1795 against No Creek Indians. He was a private in the 14th Regiment of the US infantry. He enlisted in Lewisburg, VA in Aug. 1795 for three years. He served three years and was Honorably Discharged at Ft. Williams in Georgia in Aug.1798.

    • He enlisted in the War of 1812 on Aug 20,1813 for 3 years. He was discharged Nov.4,1813. He was a Captain in the KY Mounted Infantry, 7th Regiment under Gen. Harrison. he was discharged due to an ankle injury. He was 6 ft. tall, slender, fair complexion, blue eyes and black hair.

  • NOTES: Dates for John's birth vary: 1709, 1714 and 1717. He was a merchant in Fredricksburg, Spotsylvania Co, Va. During his life in Prince William and late Fauquier Co, he served as sheriff, justice, vestryman and Major in the Militia. He became one of the first Justices of Fauquier Co. In a book written by Jane Farmer, she says family tradition states John was born in Aberdeen, Scotland. Will Book 1 Page 4 Bath County, VA 1795. DAR classification-Patriotic service-Va. John and his son William, signed a petition to form Greenbrier Co, Va in 1777. The original is located in the Virginia State Library in Richmond. The following is the text of an article published in the Hartford, Ky Times News 30 Aug 1984 pages B-4. Rich Hills Plantation, Culpeper Co, Va was the home of George Rowe, who obtained the property from John and Elizabeth Frogg of Prince William Co, Va July 5, 1753. George Rowe lived upon this land when the transaction was made. The property was originally owned by Lord Fairfax who as proprietor of the North Neck of Va had deeded it to John Frogg and Michael Wallace in joint tenancy May 4 1751. A petition from the latter Aug 20 1752, whereby Frogg was sole owner. Recorded Culpepper Court, Sept 25, 1752. Rich Hills consisted of 416 acres on both sides of the Robertson River. Rowe paid 45 pounds in Va currency for this property. It was surveyed by George Mason. Research: Taken from the book " FAUQUIER COUNTY IN THE REVOLUTION" THE HOUSE OF BURGESS, MEETING IN WILLIAMSBURG IN MARCH OF 1756, PASSED AN ACT FOR RAISING MILITIA IN THE COUNTIES OF FAIRFAX, PRINCE WILLIAM, CULPEPER AND HAMPSHIRE TO MAN A LINE OF FORTS FROM GREAT-CAPE CAPON IN HAMPSHIRE COUNTY TO THE SOUTH FORK OF THE MAYO RIVER IN HALIFAX. THE PRINCE WILLIAM MILITIA WAS CIMMANDED BY MAJOR JOHN FROGG.      While still residing in the town of Philadelphia, John and Mary Frogg had earned enough money trading goods between the colonies to purchase a home in nearby Christiana, Deleware. On September 29, 1714, John and Mary purchased 800 acres of land near Christiana Bridge in New Castle County, Delaware along the road leading to John Ogles of White Clay Creek. John’s merchant contacts in Philadelphia would play a vital role in the establishment of Christiana, Delaware.
