          Keelon Wade Keeton (bn 1838) and wife Francis Alexander Keeton. They were the parents of three girls Nannie (Torrance), Mary Elizabeth (Duvall), and Armenda (McCrady). Keelon and Francis lived on the north side of Green River from Brownsville, and up the road toward the later site of Lock & Dam 6. Keelon worked for the Railroad, and at the close of the Civil War he left home and was never seen again. One of his daughters recalled him walking to the yard gate, and turning around and coming back and picking up the baby girl for a moment, then he turned and left. According to family tradition, he was headed toward Cumberland County where he was born. During the decade following the Civil War, marauding bands of outlaws frequented that area and it was always believed he was murdered and his body concealed.        morning and never returned home.

    * A newspaper article in the Louisville-Courier Journal, Nov. 1, 1869 states: "The body of an unknown

      man was found floating in the Tennessee River near Shellmound." (Tennessee)
